Global Warming Impacts

Global Warming and California’s Economy

If global warming continues unchecked, rising temperatures, potential changes in precipitation patterns and sea level rise will pose serious challenges for California’s agriculture, forestry and tourism industries – to name just a few. For example, changing precipitation and reduced snow pack will threaten California’s farmers as well as its winter sports industry. Sea-level rise will threaten many of the state’s most popular tourist destinations and economic centers.

Slowing or reversing global warming presents economic opportunities in California’s traditional business sectors such as agriculture and tourism as well as in the state’s burgeoning new clean technology industries.
